Normally I don't bother checking out those frivolous celeb-crap articles when I go to check my hotmail, but this one caught my eye.
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4963512/
{Shepherd} thinks the waistline location might even improve their behavior. "Hopefully, if we pull up their pants," he said, "we can lift their minds while we're at it."
I might've missed something because I'm using a Mac right now, and for some reason could only read the article itself by viewing the source code. But if I read it right, this is only going on in one or a couple small towns. Being from a small town myself, and knowing they tend to be more like obscure, secluded tribes than example-setters for the rest of society, it doesn't outrage me that much. But doesn't it seem just plain fucked up sometimes how a law maker would use a weak argument like "lifting minds" to arbitrarily tell young people, "I'm insecure about my body, and you ought to be too!".
And yeah, I guess you could come up with another lame argument like "well it's a stupid fashion anyway". But I don't see anyone trying to illegalize mom jeans.
