Someone was talking about animal posession a while ago and I swear it was McKitty, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I wanted to start a thread about it because I would like to hear more about it and possibly how it's done.
thanks

On this first example I find it not only repulsive but ridiculous, the second is kinda neat.

The animal possession that some weres speak of is that a person actually enters the body of a wolf or other creature that they associate with and take over their physical functions. Now there is no control by the wolf and you don't think like a wolf. Basically you are a human in wolf's clothing.

Even if I could do this I think I would find it a violation of the animal. I mean EW! How horrible for your mind and body to be taken away from you, I don't care if you are an animal. Not to mention I would think that it would be difficult to walk on four legs when you are used to two. Animals that walk on four legs frrom birth would be quite accustomed to the way their bodies move whereas a human in an animal's body would try to use that body the way he/she is used to.

Anyway there are other forms of animal interaction. There are people, such as native americans who claim to have the ability to enter the mind of an animal and see through their eyes and experiance what the animal experiances as the animal. You don't control the animal's actions or thoughts you are just a silent observer that can feel what the animal feels.

Another form of animal interaction is also one used by Native Americans. They are somehow able to enter the animal's mind and body in order to communicate with the animal. They can then ask the animal to do their bidding. There is no force in this, the animal can choose to ignore the person who wants them to do stuff. For instance let's say Ed wants to get a bird's eye view of a place he can enter the mind and body of a bird and ask the bird to fly over this particular place. If bird agrees and flies where Ed wants, then Ed can use bird's sight to see what he wants. If bird says no then Ed is S.O.L. and must find another creature to do his bidding.

I think that is all there are. I may be mistaken but those are the ones I have read about.

As for how it is done, some say through meditation, but the Native Americans say you have to be born with the gift. But they don't like to share their secrets.

This is what McKitty sent me in a PM and asked me to post:

I couldn't get a reply to your post in Animal and Spirituality ...stupid computer, so I'll do it here and you can ost this in the forum for me. I've never controlled an animal, btw, nor would I want to.

There, you just summed up what a right 'possesion; should be. Anybody who knows anything also knows that animals have a soul just as us humans do. Hell, almost everything living does. And possesing (I hate that term but hey) is a awy to share a mind and body with an animal for a time. It has to be willing, otherwse, wouldn't that be a mental rape.

I've been with each and every single one of my cats that I own and through this, I hold a special bond with each of them. I recently lost one (Her name was Scullster after 'Scully' from X-Files) and now know that she's in another home and happy there. I've let her go, though it hurts me badly. We got two new kittens and I'm currently establishing a bond with them.

All I do is lie somewhere where I'm at eve-level with them and match my breathing to theirs and go into a relaxed state. With my two older cats (Bubba and Athena) I wait until they come to me, close enough to touch. (Here's some new age hobbly-gook) Our aura's/souls/spirits/whateer you call them blend together on the edges to where I see them in my mind. Then one of two things happen. I enter their body and observe the world from a cat's point of view. Or they seem to enter me and I experince a 'mental shift' so to speak. Nothing too fancy, I'm just more aware of my enviroment. When I'm with them in their body, they wander around the backyard and house going on their own buisness and then return to me when they want. Sometimes it's for a few seconds, the longest was a half hour.

And the only thing that's really happening is this cat is in my lap and I'm seeing my world through their eyes.

My friend, the one who got me into this, had a connection with a deer. Every morning as she got up, this deer would be outside her window and walk with her to the bus stop. We live on an air force base so deer around the neighborhood is absolutly normal. We'd get on the bus and the deer would leave. And what was really bizarre is one time, (her backyard touched the woods) the doe came up and had twin fawns with her. She didn't let me near them, but my friend got to cuddle with the two.

To me, it's more of a friendship between me and an animal. I hope I could connect with a wild animal someday, but I'm still working on my kittens
