A question that I have long asked myself in the sixteen years I have been upon this planet called Earth is, "What makes a hero, a hero?" I always wanted to be someone like a hero. Pretending to be Superman or Batman in the earlier days of my youth, I always thought that I needed to have super gear, weaponry or powers. Then I learned that none of that is needed. I have seen people where I go who are heroes of their hometowns. They never needed anything like a gun or power to save someone's life, just courage, and strong will. I doubt I'll ever be able to do something so grand. I wish though...that I could be a true hero...someday... Just to add, I really don't know why I'm writing this, but it just seems like something I have to say. Perhaps it's gibberish...I don't know. The will to overcome the most difficult of tasks to save a life, prevent disaster...it ust seems fanominal(sp?) To think that people everyday are always putting their life on the line to save others...those are people of the human race that I think need to be the leaders of our country. We have to be a highly educated person to judge things and make the proper decision. The ones who sit at homeor at an office shouldn't decide whether we fight or not. And I hate the ones over in Iraq that haven't learned that fighting against us in a war has brought nothing to both sides but death and destruction. The few that finally stand up and decide that enough is enough are the true heroes of all. Those are people I can truly admire, and I admire hardly a single being at all. The ones who can keep peace are true heroes in my eyes.
And as I said before, this may be a bunch of incoherent babbling, and I'm sorry if I have wasted your time. I doubt there will be any feedback on this post, but eh...it matters not. I just thought...I might say something. This may make up for a fraction of my non-patriotism as well...thank you to those who took the time to read this.

The only hero in my life is my dad. I have never told him this and probably never will, but he is one of the most important people in my life. He hasn't done anything inparticular that would make him a hero, so I dont think there can be any true definition of 'Hero,'. I'm so corny... :o

As regards Superman and Batman - the reason they are so popular are because they are just 20th Century versions of archetypes which have been popular with people throughout the world and the ages.
Superman can be summed up as "a man with great strength but who tries to be honourable and do what is right". In this way his story is not so different from that of Thor from Norse mythology, Hercules from Greek or even Samson in the Bible.
Likewise Batman, is a man who is almost single minded in seeking to punish evildoers. Sounds a lot like Robin Hood or William Tell. Again stories which still capture our imaginations.
I guess all heroes are very honourable men and women. And they do what is right rather than what is easiest ...

Yeah, mine too. My dad is the most wise and strong man I have ever known. Im not just saying this because he's my dad but he... he has a strong spirit, he has alot of wisdom, and when he was younger he trained "Ha-tha yoga" the kind of yoga that makes your muscles really strong.

The odd thing is, not many people respect my dad, so dont get the image that he's some kind of roll model for me, but I think that he is wise, and he's always there for me. I even think I have come to find the smell of sweat comforting because of when he comforts me.

a noble act involving the prospect of or self harm, act of self sacrafice (martya) or putting yourself in danger where you "have nothing to gain but everything to lose" situation
but in the who tv, combic book Jaurana all the worst hero's are those without limitations (in my opinion)

A hero..
One who is willing, and is paying something that is worth much to the hero for the lives of others.

A hero to some is a tyrant to others. Take Hitler, for example. He was practically worship by the German people, but hated by....well, everyone else. It's a matter of perception, as are most things.

Someone once said that a hero is someone who is in the wrong place at the wrong time and to stupid to realise it.
