Well there are all kinds of mountain bikes. The best brands are Specialized, Trek, and Cannondale. I ride a Specialized 2004 epic.

Well first you should think about what kind of riding you'll be doing. If your looking for competition cross country then it'l be the Epic. Here's a link to the site: http://www.specialized.com/SBCUSHome.jsp?minisi te=10080&rccmd=atj (http://) then click on bikes on the upper left corner and it'l take u to the bike section where u can look at what kind of bikes is for you. It gives you a detailes description of each bike. The Epic is under S-Works.

Um any more questions just PM me. I know a lot.

I'd reccommend the Cannondale Gemini. It's a great bike and depending on the year of it can range in price. The one I was looking at was around $1600.00. Then there was a faint idea of getting a Specialized FSRXC, which is about the only mountain bike they sell that has full suspension in the front and back. It's a good begginer bike and will run you about $800.00.

Since my surgery I can no longer MTB (it bites.) but I can still give you some advice if you like.

BTW, Trek does offer MTB's, but they're usually over priced.

Do some research into what exatly you're looking for, and don't get a bike that isn't in your range level. I've had my share of wipeouts while messing with my friends Cannondale Jekyll, and the pain can be extensive. You might also want to look into a full faced helmet if you plan on taking this seriously. Other items that are a good idea: Hydropak, Chest&Back armor, Knee&Elbow pads, a tool kit, spiked pedals, riding gloves, and padded shorts. Also make sure that if you're out on a trail, to use your head. Just because the more advanced players are doing a jump, doesn't mean you have to. Stick with what you're comfortable doing.

Specialized Bikes: www.specialized.com (http://www.specialized.com)

Cannondale Bikes: www.cannondale.com (http://www.cannondale.com)

Also, do a search for where you are for a MTB community. They can offer some good advice where to find trails, what bikes are good, and if they're having a get together. I reccommend not biking alone just in case something happens.

You can also PM me if you like.

Thanks for the tips. The only other problem I might have is that im from Barrie, Ontario and around where I live I dont think there is any places that would sell good mountain bikes. But I guess ill just have to look harder, thanks again for the info and tips.
