Default Debunking Paranormal Scams

Just one more reason to love mentalist, and avowed skeptic Darren Brown. A new project on Channel 4 features Brown that seeks to debunk popular paranormal claims and explains the science behind them. Called The Science of Scams, their website is currently live and has the first three scam expose videos posted on their frontpage.

It's really good stuff, and exposes how paranormal "effects" are accomplished.

Also, Darren Brown is pretty much the awesomest ever. I do hope he returns to the US someday soon, as I'd love to see him live.

Anyway, discuss and/or post other stuff about debunking the paranormal (I expect to see some James Randi, right quick.)

It's hard to discuss this without bringing Randi in. For such a small guy, he's a giant in the field. Penn & Teller are also active debunkers.

I may be a little off topic here but it brings to mind that show Proof Positive. They take various paranormal claims and put them to the test. A lot of times the people are scam artists that get utterly humiliated but other times they aren't trying to pull anyone's strings and present some plausible evidence. However, they've never proved anything paranormal exists, but that something strange did in fact happen to certain individuals that have yet to be explained. Even the people who present the "paranormal" evidence are skeptical about what they've found and believe that science can decipher their findings.

I love debunkers. Now, I'll be the first to admit I'm not as skeptical as I'd like to be but...
It just makes me want to hurt someone when I hear of a paranormal group who is looking to "prove" that a person's claims are true. They take a bag of *poo* and pretend it's chocolate. Debunking is the only way to go. Anyone else is taking advantage.
